• Buddy & Bear PT provides therapy in your child’s natural environment. This includes the child’s home, grandmother’s home, the park, child’s daycare, or anywhere the child normally spends their day. This can be completed in-person in your home if you are within the service area, or virtually via Telehealth for California residents.

  • We currently provide in-home pediatric physical therapy to the following cities of Bay Area California: Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, and Pleasanton.

For Teletherapy (virtual therapy), you must reside in the state of California.

  • Buddy & Bear PT is an out-of-network provider. We are a fee-for-service, direct-pay therapy practice that is not “in-network” with any insurances. Payments are due upfront. Depending on your insurance, you may be eligible for reimbursement for your “out-of-network” physical therapy services. Each plan varies, so you should review your policy specifics before your first session, but typically an “out of network (OON) provider” is compensated at a percentage of shared cost. This means that your insurance provider will pay a percentage of the cost and you will be responsible for a percentage.

  • Cash pay means payment is due in advance or at the time of service, which allows the therapist to focus on providing quality service and keeping administrative costs low. Even though this model is called cash-based, you are not limited to cash payments. You may pay for services with cash, credit, debit or check.

Upon request, we provide you with a Superbill for services rendered which you can submit to your insurance company. We make no representation that you will be reimbursed in part or full. We recommend that you contact your insurance company for coverage information. Please contact us for our rates.

  • California allows direct access to physical therapy services or “self-referral” with physical therapists who hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Dr. Magnolia, has you covered. This allows your child to be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without first seeing a physician for a prescription. Direct access saves you time and money, expediting your treatment. If you need care beyond 12 visits (or 45 days, whichever comes first), then you will need a prescription.

Clients through the Regional Center of East Bay must have a “Purchase of Service” authorization for physical therapy services to begin.

  • You and your infant/child will meet with me to go over questions about your their developmental history, current symptoms and your goals. I will observe your child’s movements as they play and interact with the environment. We will work together to set up age appropriate activities that provoke movement in the comfort of your home.

I will perform a physical exam of your child’s strength, range of motion, tone, balance and coordination while observing his or her gross motor abilities and identifying areas that need improvement. If applicable, I will also use standardized assessments to further provide you with objective measures. We will then review the findings and work with you to develop a plan of care to help your child improve their gross motor skills.

  • Based on the information obtained from the evaluation, your plan of care will be used to determine a treatment plan consisting of parent education, facilitated play and manual therapy, to specifically address your child’s needs and goals.

I help infants learn to roll, crawl, sit, and walk. For older children, therapy may involve learning to ride a bicycle or improve balance and strength. I utilize various modalities like infant massage, kineseotaping, and various other techniques to improve your child’s mobility.

For Teletherapy, we focus on caregiver handling and one-on-one therapeutic skills practice. Each session will be carefully guided and planned according to your child’s treatment plan. Children learn best in their natural environment as well as with the trust of their parents/caregivers by their side.

  • Every child is different and unique. We will track your child’s progress based on our findings from the initial evaluation to ensure we are meeting your personal goals and your child’s developmental milestones. Progress could be seen in as little as a few sessions or it can take years, depending on their needs, diagnosis and functional limitations.

  • Treatment sessions are 1 hour long; 50 minutes of direct therapy and 10 minutes of parent/caregiver education or review of any manual therapy or home program. An initial evaluation may last longer, from 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

  • Telehealth Physical Therapy is the delivery of early intervention services using distance technology, such as Zoom or FaceTime, when the child and caregiver are not in the same physical location. It allows children to attend the therapy sessions they need consistently. This provides parents hands on education on movement and mobility specific to the child in the comfort of their home.
